And here is the news. News update: 20 June 2010. Things are hotting up now; we have our list of beers and tasting notes (you can see those on this site), tickets are out with the retailers (Clive's, Bishop's Stores, AB Motorcare, Claverham Village Hall - so thanks very much to all of them for their help). If you want to see what the bands are up to then visit:- http://www.alexlipinski.com/page6.htm http://www.tinmanandme.com/ Note about the World Cup. Now we know things have not gone too well so far, and a lot depends on whatever happens on Wednesday, and whatever one feels about football let's all hope England do well (even if we support Scotland or indeed Northern Ireland normally), but if England do make the quarter finals some of you might want to know how you can combine watching England while enjoying the Beer Festival. The footie will be on in the Claverham Village Hall bar so you can watch it there if you want, and still enjoy our splendid array of beers. Please note vuvuzelas will not be supplied at the Beer Festival and we'd rather you did not bring them, unless you happen to be South African and it is an essential part of your evening's enjoyment. However, please enjoy your vuvuzelas responsibly and without disturbing the neighbours. We cannot reiterate enough how grateful we are to our sponsors, so please see the website links in the article below to their businesses. News update: 28 March 2010. Well arrangements are now in full swing and we have decided on 35 beers from breweries within a radius of 35 miles from Claverham, as the crow flies, in addition to our ciders and wines. A little bit of geographical research has been done, in conjunction with following Yatton RFC under 13s, and a few of the beers we had thought about have failed the geography test and won’t make it on the weekend of 2nd to 4th July 2010. We have our bands, we have our beers and all we need now are beer, cider and wine lovers. All importantly we also have our main sponsors, and our very grateful thanks to Bell & Stenton Opticians (all things for eyes www.bellandstenton.co.uk) , Winford Ford (all things car www.winfordford.co.uk) and Stowell Concrete (all things concrete www.stowellconcrete.co.uk). Our sponsors our vital to the success of the Beer Festival so please do look at what these businesses have to offer. A reminder of our own website www.claverham-beer-festival.org.uk and our Facebook (search Claverham Beer Festival). If you are a fan of ours on Facebook then please recommend to your friends as it’s a great way for us to pass on the all important Beer Festival information. 19th February 2010. Here is the latest news (I'll avoid implanting this message with amusing "bongs" as per Sir Trevor Macdonald no matter how utterly amusing that would or would not be). Hopefully an article will appear in the Yatton and Congresbury Magazine shortly but to let you know that some great acts have been booked for the Friday... and Saturday evenings (Lipinski and Tin Man and Me), with Saturday afternoon welcoming local singers performing a range of covers. Sunday afternoon brings the "Redhillbillies" an American Country and Bluegrass local band one of whose members is Claverham's very own Ernie Payne. A reminder that you can log on to the website. The other thing which would be really handy, although it is appreciated that it is a bit cheeky is if you could recommend this page to friends who might be interested in the Beer Festival. The next Committee meeting is in mid-March and there should be a further update then. The next Committee meeting is in mid-March and there should be a further update then. If anybody is able to spare us a pair of hours over the weekend of 2 to 4 July pulling pints or generally being an all round good egg please step forward in due course. It is a good laugh as you can drink beer, cider or wine while you're doing it, you're always first in the queue and you can have the warm happy glow of a person performing a vital public service. 5th December 2009. Well folks we are back as we had our first big meeting for the 2010 Festival last Wednesday. The Claverham Beer Festival will be on Friday 2nd July to Friday 4th July 2010 at Claverham Village Hall. Many more details to follow. Many thanks to Stowells Concrete and Bell & Stenton Opticians who were our main sponsors for 2009. Thanks to all our other sponsors who will be listed here soon. 5th December 2009. This year we think (and this is almost definite) that we are going to go for West country beers (probably 35 mile radius of Claverham), which suits your correspondent very well. We have some great acts lined up and are thinking of some other things which will not alter what we do considerably, as the feedback is all good, but hopefully will make the Beer Festival even better. 5th December 2009. Details of our Facebook page and Twitter will be available as soon as those are written. 5th December 2009. If you could register with the website that would be very helpful as well. 5th December 2009. That's enough news for now.
